I think the powder is styptic powder, to stop the bleeding. It used to come in sticks when I was a child, probably used for shaving nicks.

ReplyDeleteThanks for your input. I agree that the powder was likely some kind of antiseptic/antibiotic agent. Both styptic powder and sulfanilimide are good possibilities. Though, looking at that wound, I think Jang Tae-Sang needed stitches as well. It's pretty impressive that he could pull a rickshaw, fight off Japanese soldiers and jump down from ceiling vents with that wound. But then again, he's Jang Tae-Sang...
